If your least favorite chore is vacuuming, technology has come to your rescue with robot cleaners.
Roombas are a delight in many homes, and since the 690 came out in 2017, users have had easy accessibility with the app.
So, can you have two Roombas on the same app?
Can I pair two Roombas on the same app?
You can have two Roombas on the same account and app without restrictions. It’s especially convenient for commercial facilities with multiple floors or homes. It makes controlling multiple Roombas from the same app possible, which removes the stress of carrying one Roomba from floor to floor.
This article delves into whether you can have more than one Roomba account and if you can have two Roombas on the same app. I also provide instructions on adding another Roomba to your app.

Can you have more than one Roomba account?
When you download the iRobot HOME App, you will need to create an account or log in to an existing account. Setting up your account involves connecting your cleaning devices to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
Once that’s done, you can now control your Roomba from anywhere. In addition, you can have more than one Roomba account under certain circumstances. For example, if you reach the limit of Roombas one account can hold, you must create a new account.
If you want to control one Roomba from multiple accounts, it’s impossible to do so. Although this feature was available a few years back, iRobot changed the rules. They no longer allow you to register one Roomba to multiple accounts.
This means you and your spouse with different accounts cannot give instructions to your Roomba. You can only share access by using one account. Logging into your account on multiple devices enables you to instruct the Roomba from the app.
Even two phones sharing the same log-in or account details have some limitations. For example, the Roomba may be unable to send support geofence alerts when two phones use the same log-in.
Can I have 2 Roombas on the same app?
Robot vacuums like iRobot’s Roomba help you handle many cleaning jobs at home and work. Whether you want to clean pet hair off the floor or mop, there are many Roombas to select from.
These small hands-free cleaners come with distinct features, like Wi-Fi connectivity control through the app, voice, and household mapping.
The iRobot HOME app works for Android and iOS, allowing you to do a lot of things, including:
- Register and name your Roomba
- Schedule vacuum times (like just before you return from vacation)
- Start, pause, or end cleaning cycles from wherever you are
- Customize your cleaning preferences
- Access the set-up instructions
- View the Roomba’s cleaning history
- Locate the Roomba or monitor its activities
- Receive automatic software updates and other alerts
- Watch instructional videos
- Contact customer care
- View answers to frequently asked questions
According to iRobot’s support page, you can have up to 10 Roombas on the same app. If you have two or three Roombas, your account can control them. However, you cannot connect over 10 Roombas to your account.
If you want to build a Roomba team with 11 or more Roombas, you’d need another mobile device and a second account.
How do I add another Roomba to my app?
It’s convenient to add up to 10 Roombas to one account. Even better is that you can share log-in details or use your account on multiple devices. Adding another Roomba to your account follows the same procedure you used for the first one.
Before you start the set-up process, here are some things to do/crosscheck:
- Place the Clean Base or Home Base Charging Station on a level surface and connect it to power.
- Have your Roomba
- Keep your Wi-Fi network name and password handy
Ensure the charging station is in a location that’s free from obstacles and has good Wi-Fi coverage. It’s best if the charging station is at least 1.2 m away from the stairs to prevent your Roomba from falling down the stairs.
Some Roombas only connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, so check if your phone is on that network. If your device is on a 5GHz network and your Roomba doesn’t support it, remember to switch to the appropriate one.
Once you have everything ready, follow these steps:
Power the robot: If your Roomba has the yellow bin insert and yellow battery pull tab, remove them. Place the Roomba on the base and power it on.
Open the app: Log into your account on the iRobot HOME app and click on: Add a Robot > Roomba > Roomba Combo.
Enable location services: Log in to the app or open it and turn on-location services. You must allow location services for your Roomba Combo to identify and connect to your Wi-Fi network. Set it to “Allow while using the app.”
Name your Roomba: The preloaded name it shows on the app is “Roomba.” Input any name of your choice and select.
Connect to Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi network your device is connected to will show on the iRobot HOME app. If it’s a 2.4GHz network, click on continue. If you connect your device to a 5GHz network, click on “Change Wi-Fi network” and select any 2.4GHz network available.
You can set up the Roomba on a different network with your iOS device. After selecting the Wi-Fi network on the iRobot HOME app, change the network in the mobile device’s Settings app. Next, input your Wi-Fi network password and, if it requires no password, check the corresponding box, and continue.
Activate the Roomba Combo: This is where you turn on your Roomba’s internal Wi-Fi network so your device can find it. Confirm that the robot is powered on and awake and check for the green Wi-Fi indicator light. With the Roomba on the Home Base, look to see the slowly blinking light.
If you can’t see the light, open the lid, confirm that the power button is in the “On” position, and close the lid. Then, activate the Roomba by opening the lid and pressing the RESET button for one second. After releasing the button, you’ll hear a beep.
Confirm this step in the app by ticking the box that says, “I pressed the button,” and select continue. Your device can now locate the Roomba since you’ve turned on its internal Wi-Fi. Next, tap “Join” to allow the app to connect to form a temporary connection to your Roomba’s Wi-Fi network on your device.
Your Roomba takes your network’s information from your device and completes the set-up process. When you see “Connected,” the set-up is complete. You can now control your second Roomba through the iRobot HOME app.
If you cannot add the Roomba, check that you meet the Wi-Fi requirements. An error message that could appear is, “There was a problem connecting to Roomba. Sorry. Please retry.”
You can reboot the robot and Wi-Fi router and force close the iRobot HOME app. When everything comes back on, retry the Wi-Fi set-up process. Confirm that your router’s Wi-Fi settings are compatible with the set-up process.
If you can’t find your robot in the network, reboot the robot and router, force close the iRobot HOME App, and retry the Wi-Fi set-up process.
